its a pretty old laptop compaq armada 7770DMT and it doesn't have the feature in the bios is there a way where i can flash the bios and get that feature
if it's a pretty old compie, changing those settings isn't going to have much of an effect on your graphics and may very well have a negative effect on the machine's overall performance.
you're not going to see any difference. it's a gaming card or lappy, and the machine is fairly old; you might as well leave it the way it is.
it probley only got 1 setting, and as Auslander says it wont bring a good deal of performace and may have an adverse effect on ur comp. Damn Auslander u just beat me to it, u wait now we have said that someone will come along with a great programme that will prove us to be given out crap lol.
with a desktop, you'd generally just buy a new AGP/PCI-E graphics card, rather than fool with an onboard one.
I have a question...I just bought a brand-new Gateway Platinum Edition that shares the onboard memory (1 Gig, up to 128 Mb) to the video chipset onboard (Intel 900/915 graphics series). I know you can go into the Bios and change some of these settings, but honestly, I'm not sure exactly what this stuff will do... ...so, exactly what does changing the setting from 8 to 32 do for me?
you'll be able to play some games...not many, but more than solitaire. some old stuff. your computer will just be a bit more graphics-friendly. but really, you can get a cheap agp card that will be several times better, graphics-wise, and that won't have any adverse affects on your compie's performance.
I wasn't aware I could buy an aftermarket video card for a Gateway laptop, let alone any type of laptop...hmmm...maybe I should check on Gateway's site for video upgrades??
i highly doubt u can buy an aftermarket video adaptor but some u can, so ur doing the right thing, i think Auslander thought u menat u brought a PC. Good luck let us no how it goes
lol, i was thinking pc, but i'm sure there are ways to upgrade the graphics in a laptop. you'd probably just have to dismantle the thing. i'm sure i've seen shorty cards before that were made for laptops.
@ Auslander: i think some of the newer ones u can, i have one with a X700 in but can upgrade if i want to. But a lot of the olders one and some of the newer ones u cant, i asked in this in a thread when looking to upgrade my last laptop hence the reason i brought a new one lol.
