Thanks again man. I am giving it a try right now. I followed the guide (seems incredibly simple). I downloaded the 2.80 Downgrade Files and copied the PSP folder to the root of my memory stick. Did the next step with the updater files also. . . . I can't get past running the HEND image. I have tried about 50+ times. I just crash and crash and crash. Any suggestions.

Try a hard reset on the psp first. Like holding the power switch for about 5 to 10 secs. That ussually does the trick.

bro, I really appreciate all your help. . . sorry for all the questions.. . . .I got it to reset.. . . 70+ tries. . . believe it or not, I was hard resetting now and then,. . . .anyway. . . I got it to work, blue screen of success. . . .reboot. .. . I ran the 2.8 Id storage changer. . . .pressed x to proceed. . . .rebooted. . .now I am stuck . . . still in 2.8 right now. I re ran the id changer and it tells me it has already been runonce on this psp and to just run the generic updater or something. What should I do now? I have Copied the 1.5 update EBOOT and renamed to UPDATE.PBP and put itin the X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder.
Thanks again
Thanks again

hmmmm... let me check. I can't exactly remmeber how I did it before. The ID storage doesn't work? Does it load? If it rebooted after running the idstorage you're supposed to run the update.pbp already.

I had a 2.80, ta-082.
I did these steps:
Open the downloaded 2.80 Downgrade Files (280dg.zip) and copy the PSP folder to the root of you memory stick. (Not MP_ROOT)
(I just replaced my psp folder with the one from the zip)
Then I did this: Copy the 1.5 update EBOOT renamed to UPDATE.PBP to X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE
I started the psp, went to the photo folder and ran HEN. . . .70+ times
Finally got it to reboot with the blue screen
After the reboot, I went to the mem stivk and ran the ID changer.
Pressed 'x' when asked, it rebooted quickly back to 2.8. I don't recognize anything off my mem stick to run now (I have a few things there from the past like Kernel dumper sample, NandDumper, etc)
Not sure what to do next.

By the way, when I go into the id storage changer again, that is when it tells me that it has been run already, and that i need to 'just use the generic downgrader directly'

The Generic downgrader is the Update X.YZ which should be listed in Game Menu Memory Stick.
You need to be runing HEN so if your not run it again then run the Update X.YX (The easiest way to get HEN booted is to go to your Photo Icon press triangle and choose slideshow).

If the PSP was rebooted or turned off then HEN shouldn't be running anymore and you will need to run it again if it doesn't say HEN under the System Settings/System Software.
Then run UPDATE x.yz thats under Game Menu Memory Stick.
Then run UPDATE x.yz thats under Game Menu Memory Stick.

Awesome help guys. . . but. . . .I don't have the update showing when I look on the mem stick. I have hen running (thankx for the advice re: using the slideshow) and I have done the idstorage change. . . .I look under the game menu on the stick and I see; cube sample, lpl dumper, kernel dumper sample, Nand dumper, Polyphonic sample, System param, idStorage Change, and Corrupted data. Thats it. No update x.xy

I suggest upgrading to 3.52 M33-4 to get the most out of your PSP. Below is a guide on how to do that.
3.52 M33 HERE
3.52 M33-4 HERE
3.52 firmware HERE
1.50 firmware HERE
Download the 3.52 M33 CFW linked above. Extract the file.
Download both the 1.50 and 3.52 firmware. You need to re-name the 3.52 firmware to 352.PBP the 1.50 firmware to 150.PBP. Then add them to the M33CREATOR folder.
Now copy the M33CREATOR folder and the kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders to the PSP MS directory of ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.
Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the KXploit Permanent Patcher. It should run and say patched successfully and reboot back to the XMB.
Now go to game Menu Memory Stick and run the M33CREATOR.
After you run the M33CREATOR it should reboot back to the XMB. It should have created a 3.52 M33 update which you need to select in the Game Menu Memory Stick.
It will flash the files to the PSP and you should be at 3.52 M33 firmware. If it is then format your MS.
Now extract the 3.52 M33-4 update.
Drag the PSP folder that is in the update M33-4 into the root of the MS overwriting the files when it asks you to. Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the m33-4 update. This will only take a few seconds.
After the update is finished check and make sure it says 3.52 M33-4 for firmware. If it does say 3.52 m33-4 then format the MS 1 more time.
You are now updated to 3.52 M33-4.
3.52 M33 HERE

Do as I suggested above update to 3.52 M33-4 and all you need to do is place the ISO/CSO in the ISO folder. Then launch them in Game Menu Memory Stick.
You would still need to run Devhook to get PSP games to play on 1.50 firmware.
You can do everything on 3.52 M33-4 that 1.50 can do plus more.

Hi larrylje,
I have followed your very precise instructions, but when I try running either kxploitpatcher or M33Creator, they stop and give me the following error message:
'The game could not be started. (8002014C)'
My current system software is version 3.1
Where to from here? Thanks.

you have 2 choices...
1) Update your PSP to 3.50 official firmware and use the unpatched version of Lumines and use the game exploit to downgrade to 1.50 firmware. HERE is a guide for those steps. Look under the section of 3.10 - 3.50 Any Motherboard.
2) use the Pandora Method (You will need a PSP that has 1.50 or custom firmware already installed to create a Pandora Battery). HERE is a guide on how to create a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick.
When you downgrade your 3.10/3.11 to 1.50 upgrade to 3.52 M33-4 by following the above steps.

Thats what I said after taking the leap from 1.50/Devhook to 3.40OE-A...I probably would have done it sooner, and got into the earlier custom firmware releases, but I kind of left my psp to collect dust for some months....
