Hi Guys First of all what a fabulous site. There is a enormous amount of help here and I think it's fantastic. I have been searching the forums for two days now getting all sorts of guides and such but I am still stuck with the basics. Here my qustion I have the following software Nero 7 DVD Shrink DVD Decrypter DVDFAB Decrypter DVD Authorgui I am trying to get a number of episodes onto one DVD-R. I have previously used Nero Vision to inport small Mpeg music video files to make a various music video. It works 100% in my DVD player with menus and background video playing as well. I recently tried the same for the Lost series. I thought I had to convert my avi files to mpeg to do this, which worked up untill I tried using Nero Vision again. Right up untill I test with the remote control before burning it, it just hangs up and the pixels are dispersed all over. My question is this. Can I import avi files directly into Nero and still get a good number of episodes on one disc. Secondly why do they all say "avi to dvd". What exactly does this do. I understand the basic concept but I don't understand the reason why. Does "avi to dvd" mean converting avi to another format and then putting it on a dvd or does it literally mean avi directly onto a dvd. Sorry I know it may seem stupid but I am battling with it. Can mpg or mpeg be put directly onto a dvd? I am so frustrated because my computer is full now and I cannot get these files onto a DVD. Going with the software I have, what would you recommened I do to get the best possible quality episodic DVD with menus and chapters, with hopefully a clip playing in the background. Any help in this regard would be hugely appreciated.
hi, basically your avi file needs to be converted to and mpeg2 compatible or dvd movie format before you can burn it to disc and then watch it in a standalone dvd player. Nero it looks like isnt going to work for you, as an encoder so click the link below and try the free version of vso divx to dvd. http://www.filepedia.com/video_software/dvd-r_tools/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm aLL you need to do is load your file into the app and press convert.Make sure you have a different location for the encoded file .After it is converted nero wont have a problem reconizing it as it will be in the right format. Make sure you have between 6 and 16 gig free in one partition to burn your dvd as this is the required amount of space otherwise your dvd might error out. If this occurs keep the nero log and copy and paste it in your next post and i'll get it deciphered. andmerr
