Hey i have been checking this site out for a while, and have been able to get the answers to all my questions about burning till now.
I just got a plextor px-74Ouf external burner for my laptop, and have been having some trouble backing up dvds onto Dual layer discs.
I spent like 80 bucks on memorex double layer dvd+r's, and out of the 25 pack have succesfully backed up about 5 discs. I know memorex is crap from what ive read but i find it frustrating that the discs will read in the burner, but not the my home dvd player or even the one on my laptop. I am assuming that the problem i am having is with the layer change but am obviously no expert. What happens when i play the disc in my dvd player is the movie will either get to a point close to the end and then start jacking up almost as if it had a skip, or it wont read at all and say that the disc is dirty. Like i said it does play on the plextor which is kind of strange to me. Anyway i did use nero for a lot of the burns and have figured out from reading other posts that nero is crap for dual layer. So my last try or two was using dvd decrypter to rip and burn. I tried this on scarface and still had a problem towards the end where the disk would stutter and break up as though it was scratched. I plan on picking up some verbatim dvd+r DL's today, and will try with decrypter or imgburn, once again. In the meantime any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if this subject has been addressed before i apologize, but i have honestly searched for help on this for a while. Thanks in advance you guys!

I only use verb's and either burn in file mode w/nero (no probs yet) or load the mds file of the image into decrypter/imageburn.so far so good. also I have book typed to dvd-r.
