dvd to avi

how do i get my dvd video to play on windows movie maker -it says it does not support the files.

 

have you converted to avi or is it still in the dvd format........Do you have all the codecs installed for your windows movie maker

 

tx for replying-sorry I,m new to all this , how do I convert to avi and where do I get the codecs from?
