I'm looking for some advice on this application. I recently installed it. It seems to have some very good features, though it also seems to crash rather frequently. I had initially installed it on a system that had a Sempron 2800+ processor and a gig of memory. To address some of the crashing problems and the performance, I just recently upgraded to an Athlon64 3700+ processor and 2 gigs of memory. That seemed to have reduced the crashes but, surprisingly, did nothing for the performance, particularly the creation of DVD folders. It seems to spend a lot of time in disk access. I monitored the memory usage and it only uses 38% (700 - 800 megs) of the available memory. I have Windows XP auto manage the performance (page size). Does anyone have any information on how to best set up the computer to take advantage of more of the available memory with PowerDirector or is this just inherent in the application? Thanks.
Try uninstalling and then reinstalling. I used to use this program, and I didn't have any issues. In fact, it was quite reliable. However, I've discovered WinDVD, and I think it's much, much better. Regardless, just try the reinstallation.
Thanks. That's the first thing I tried. It works OK just surprisingly little performance improvement for a significantly better system. What do you like best about WinDVD? Performance/capability/features or all of the above?
The interface and its features are great. From aspect ratios, to ease of the interface, there's a plethora of virtues. Try it out if ya want: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVD_Profile.jsp
Power Director 5. What a heap of rubbish. Crashes constantly and Cyberlink's so called support don't know why. Mine is going back for a refund. Don't waste you money buying it. Same goes for Ulead's Movie Factory 4 another miserable attempt at video editing The ONLY video editor is Adobe Premier. The rest don't come anywhere near it
