I have a few machines running NERO Ultra Ed 6.6 and 7. No problems with burning wahatsoever, other than this little glitch. I just realized that when I burn DVD-Video material, the volume title on the burned disk gets cut down to [bold]first 15 characters[/bold]. (Of course shorter labels are just fine.) It also does not matter whether I use ISO Level 1 ( 8 + 3 char ) or Level 2 ( 32 char ) setting. Also, in the compilation pane and in the Compilation Properties / Label the text shows just fine. Have anybody seen anything like that ? As a side note... Normally I would use CopyToDVD for most of my burning (mostly for ease of use) - that writing engine will write the whole disk volume labels, up to 32 characters without a hickup. Thanx in advance
now has this always been going on and you just now realized it....or did this just start happening....aswell as is this happening on both 6 and 7
CopyToDVD is my primary writing engine for writing DVD-Video movies. I use Nero for all my other burning needs. Recently I decided to write a few movie disks with Nero 6.6 as I had a batch of questionable media and I wanted to do data verification afterwards. After realizing that the volume labels are cut to 15 char, I did test that on machine loaded with Nero 7 - same results. drnknja - did you test writing long (over 15 char) volume labels on your machine ? Or are you just assume that it writes them as intended ?
i can right over fifteen caracters the title on the last i made last night says....South Park - Season 8 - Disc 3....that is 30 but...i have made more will check now though and tell you how many i can put in
Just curious as to whether you found an answer to the 15 letter problem. I too noticed this recently. I was recopying DVD's that were a little flakey because I had put paper labels on them. I got the old labels off and they read fine but were sticky so I just copied them over to new disks. I just assumed the titles would be the same but was surprised that they were all limited to the 15 characters. I'm pretty sure I used Nero to make them originally. Is this one of those strange little quirks that happen with Nero 6.6.1.4? I'd like to know before I go to the hassle of deleting and reinstalling to a previous version of update. I'm running XP SP2 and haven't really had any problems with 6.6.1.4 yet. Of course I have an older burner that only does single layer DVD and I used recode to make a movie fit. Older DVD's still show original label some at least 24 characters.
