Hello all, hoping you can help me with this probably easy-to-solve problem. First off I'm using XP with SP1. Unfortunately when I installed Alcohol 120% which is the suspect program I had quick restore turned off. Alcohol changed the drive letters of both my external hard disks after I intalled it. When I try to access a file in both of the affected disks it returns the error message "the device is not ready". I've since uninstalled Alcohol but still no luck. My local disk, where my OS is installed on also returns the same results when trying to access a file; god knows how I can access the net, but I'm glad I can. Thanks in advance
Never heard of tanything like this before, Alcohol only creates virtual drives and doest touch yout hard drives. What i would suggest is to go into the disk management tool via control panel / performance and maintanence / admin tools / disk management see if your drives still show up, if so what drive letters are asigned? try change them back to the original letters cheers haim
Success! You're a diamond, haim. I thought the same about the virtual drive thing, but what happened was Alcohol assigned the drive letter of both my external drives to the new virtual drives. Everything works fine now. Thanks so much for your help
