AfterDawn.com has been updated! In addition to renewing the layout of the site we have also speeded up things considerably. The new version has been tested on our Finnish site for several months, and during the testing we have managed to improve the new version even further.

You can now enjoy this new layout at English AfterDawn.com and English Discussion Forums as well! We have also introduced new sections to the site, and re-arranged things a bit.

XBOX 360 extender and VOB/MPEG files HELP!!

I have home movies burned to dvds via Sony reocorder. The files are VOB/IFO. I spent a weekend or so ripping the dvd (via Roxio 8) to MPEG2 files. I elected to have each chapter of the movie be a different file. The set of chapters is in a folder dedicated to that movie.

I just got the xbox 360 and I love the interface. My problem is that the 360 won't let me play the sequence of chapters as one movie. You have to play each file, one at a time. Dragging and dropping the VOB files to the hard drive won't work as these files aren't playable over the extender.

I want to maintain as much fast forwarding/chapter options as possible. If I re-rip to one movie file, I can only use the 30 second skip on the 360.

What are my options a)without having to re-rip all the home videos
b) if I do have to re-rip what is the best way?

Why not just play the DVD in the 360? The 360 does a decent job as a DVD player.

I want to be able to scroll through a list of videos and pick one of say 30. I can do this already for mp3 and jpeg and now I'm struggling to do this for vids. I'll keep the dvds as backup.
