hi all. i have nero 7.0.1.2 and a nec nd-1300a dvdrw. i have been burning movies, music and data for a while now with no problems. yesterday however, i suddenly had trouble burning to a sony dvd-r using nero. i got that illegal disc error. i have been using these discs for a while, so i know its not the disc. but just for the heck of it, i bought some tdk dvd-r's. ive used them before with no problems. but they wouldnt work either. i am still able to burn to dvd+r (tested with fuji-film). ive had this version of nero for a few months now, and its always worked fine. one difference i noticed since these problems is that it wont show 4x as a write speed option. it only shows 2.4x, 2x and 1x. i know before, with dvd-rs, it would let me choose 4x. im getting nero 7.0.1.4 now, but in the mean time...any suggestions? i think it might be my burner itself, as alcohol120 and clone dvd2 are having trouble with dvd-r's too. i updated the firmware to 1.0c. here is the nero log file. thanks. First thing I would suggest you edit out your serial numbers. Your Nero is a little behind, I would recommend updating to this version http://httpdl6.us.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe
thanks for the reply. yes..i am getting that one now. when its finished and installed, i will see if it works with dvd-rs. as i said, it seems to be the same problem with alcohol and cloneDVD2 as well. so i wonder if its something with my burner itself. again, i can burn cd-r and dvd+r, just not dvd-r. any other suggestions?
For what little it's worth I had a similar problem last year with my NEC1300A. After some tests I came to the conclusion that it was, some how, related to one specific new release movie (can't remember which one)that caused the problem. The solution I used was to un/reinstall the drive which solved the problem.
hmm..never thought of that. ill give it a shot. thanks. as an update.. i just installed a newer version of nero. 7.0.1.4b..as suggested by gwendolin. still gave me the same problem with dvd-r's. guess ill try to un/reinstall my rw drive.
i just uninstalled my nec and reinstalled it. same problem. it just doesnt wanna burn to dvd-r's anymore! anyone have any other ideas? thanks.
