My Brother has a MSI 7043 Motherboad...He has 512mb PC-2700 and it works. But he wanted to add 2 of [PC2700 DDR SDRAM 128Mx72 1Gb] and the PC just beeps....I know that the MB only supports upto 2 GB so I just try adding 1 stick at once and still no luck..Updated the BIOS and nothing...What could be wrong..?The RAM has Live Time warranty, should I just send it back to see what they say? When I bought it they say that they test every Stick before shipping.
Make sure the new ram is non ecc registered. That type of ram is used mainly in servers and is often incompatable with home computer motherboards. I have 20 sticks of pc2100 512mb ddr that is useless to me because of this.
1GB PC-2700 333MHZ ECC REGISTERED MEMORY MODULE.Could I just buy another Motherboard and stick that in there?
no, you cant just go and buy a server mobo. i mean, you could, but it's not a good idea too. just return the ram and get some ram from Newegg
Plus i think server mobos are really expensive, well i know that severs can cost like 10k or something like that
The thing is that the ram was a present to my brother...And he didn't try to install the ram until this weekend. But more than a month has passed since I bought the ram..So I don't think I can return it....I guess my best bet is to put it up on Ebay and atleast get some money back...I bought them for around $190 how much do you think I can get back.Should I sell them as pair or separate?
i would try to send them back, just site the reason or make up a good excuse, most places will take back, on ebay ur be lucky to gert $100. Regards
Well I just want to break even...So it doesn't realy matter if I only get $100.I'll try contacting the site to see what happends.
