Not sure if it starting shuting down the comp after the last up date of clonedvd2 or the one before that. It dosent happen on all dvds but on most of them. It also does the same thing when using DVD decrypter and DVD shrink. When using decrypter and shrink it loads onto the hard drive fine but when shrink is compressing it shuts down the comp. If anyone has any ideas let me know or if you need more info just ask. Its a fairly new comp running XP pro and I have 2 other comps that are doing fine. Thanks for the help copecope

sounds like you need MORE memorey and a better CPU ,shut down all programs when ripping and burning to see if that helps . shot us back your PC specs.

Toshiba satellite P25-S5262 windows XP pro pentium 4cpu 3.00GHz/512 MB of ram/ 60 gig hard drive 40 of it free/ 3 fans. I have backing up DVDs with this comp for over a year with no problems. I have not added/changed any programs except clonedvd2 and anydvd as I mentioned above. I did notice that I have a 51% memory load with the only programs running are the ones that auto start. So I do need to stop several programs from auto starting. Ill try that if anyone else has any ideas give me a shout. Thanks copecope

the auto starting wont hurt as long as the programs arent running while your burning . your PC specs. are fine . have you tryed uninstalling and reinstalling the programs? its a compatibly problem in your machine somewhere

I cleaned the fans (they were quite dusty) and stoped alot of programs from running in the back ground. Now everything works fine, wish I would have done one thing at a time so I knew witch one was causing the problem but at least everything is working again. Thanks for the help ---copecope---
