First, you read a lot of the threads in these forums and then decide which programs yolu need and which guides will help you. This should happen instead of spoonfeeding.......

    Hi cuddles4u.

You are on the right track with DVD Shrink. That program will decrypt older movies and will compress movies so they fit on a single layer DVD. But this program has not been updated in a while, so its decrypting capabilities will not handle modern movies. Many still use this program to Shrink or compress movies.

Your best bet is to get AnyDVD for decryption and use DVD Shrink to compress movies. AnyDVD has a free 21 day free trial, and is the best decrypter available.

Make sure your purchase good media. Stick with TY or Verbatim media. Stay away from Memorex and all the "store brands" as they break down quickly (sometimes under a year).

Also make sure your media DVD+ or DVD- will play on your standalone DVD player. Unless you can booktype with your burner, you should make sure your DVD player can handle the media you do your backups on.

As bilbo65 noted, there are many guides in AD. They will show you how to backup your movies step by step with the most common software. Just click on the "guides" tab at the top of the page and go from there.

    Good luck
