how do I add subtitles to a avi file?

Hi!!! my problem is that I have an avi file and I want to add a subtitle to that movie. I wanna know how to do it and what programs do I need? (the subtitles I have are in str)

As long as you mean .srt, this method has always worked for me using FFDShow. VobSub is probably easier as it only needs to be installed. http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php PS-The subs will only show in Windows Media Player or TMPGEnc

You can laso use AVImux GUI,its ncie and somewhat easy and both VLC and MPC found the subs ok.
