Hope someone can shead some light on this problem Im having.
My DVD Burner (no name, its called a generic burner in device manager)
no longer reads DVD-R disk. It used to be able to read them.
I bought the DVD burner at Circit City a few years back. It is a Starlogic Platinum Burner. 16X DVD-Rom. Not knowing who really makes this, makes it impossible (for me) to try to update the firmware.
At one time I thought it might have been made by I/O Magic. I think I saw it in a massise search trying to see who really makes this. Ive gone to starlogis's site, and it is not helpful at all!

Is anyone familiar with this burner? It was a fast seller at Circuit City years ago.

Any idea how to get this working again...or maybe a place to get a firmware update. (not sure why it would even need one if it used to read them (and burn) them fine.

Why all of a sudden I cant read dvd-r's now? :(
The region is still region 1

    Please help...if you can.

    Thanks!

Well in reality these things are not worth much effort. Just get a new one.

    For example:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131416

They do quit working after awhile and getting it fixed will cost a lot more than simply replacing it.

You can try blowing a bit of air into your drive and see if it is just dirty.

    Does it play CDs still?

by the way if it is a DVD-ROM then it is not a burner, ROM stands for Read Only Memory.
