Toshiba E800 battery problem?

Hi,

I have a Toshiba E800, and I think the battery may have just died on me, I have the battery installed on my E800, but it indicates that there's no power in the battery, so I plugged in the charger, it says the battery is charging, but after a while the battery still says 0%...

The first thing I thought when this happened (and I lost my data on my E800 because of it ) is that the battery is dead, but when I used a multimeter to measure the battery, it gave me about 3.9V??? So it leads me to think if its problem with my battery or maybe my E800's having problem?? I don't really want to spend the money getting a battery if its the problem with my E800, and because my warranty is out, if I take it to Toshiba, they'll charge me which I don't really want if the problem is a dead battery...

Has anyone got any good suggestion on what I can do here??? Thanks!!!
