I have been burning on 8x dvd-r's since I started burning dvd's...now I accidentally bought some 16x dvd-r's...same brand (memorex) as my 8x, but when I try to burn from my hard drive to the 16x, my dvd power burner says error unrecognizable media or something like that...I tried to drag a photo over to my drive and that failed too, so I'm guessing that it has to do with my drive, not my burning software...Somebody please help as I can't return the 16x's they are opened. I have a NEC 3520a dvd r/rw...appreciate the help in advance

I would try different media--Memorex is almost the very worst you can buy--Burning at more than 4x makes errors more likely--Try a different brand--I use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim--at retail stores look for any type made in Japan--Maxell, Sony even TDK--Your burner may not let you burn 16x disks at 4x (mine wont)--but then just burn as slow as they will let you--also, if you use DVD Shrink, set the target size to custom aand set it to 4300 (that way it will not burn to the edge of the disk, where some problems are, especially Memorex)--So, if you cannot return the Memorex, try the above methods--good luck!
