Ok, I have this fairly old laptop, which seems to work perfectly fine until I plug in the ethernet cord into it. Without the cord plugged in, the laptop works perfectly fine. But once I plug the ethernet cord into the ethernet adapter the laptop always crashes. Could this be a problem with the adapter itself?

I have tried starting up the computer with the cord connected but the same thing still happens.
I am also pretty sure that the correct driver is installed because the computer does actually connect to the internet before the computer crashes.

sounds like the ethernet port is bust on ur laptop then. Sorry. You could try taking apart and cing if any pins have come unsoldered but could be a long and costly exercise. U can pick up an Ethernet adapt pretty cheap nowdays may be worth looking at one of those.
