    OK
So I've converted all my avi files into vob files, and I used dvd shrink to compress the files, then loaded them up in Nero Version Express, and then when the time comes and its done burning, I take the disc out and put it in my dvd player and the disc doesnt read: it just says "NO PLAY" across the front.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??

    Thanks in advance.

what brand media are you using ?
    are your disks dvd-r's or dvd+r's ?
what is your burn speed ?
are you sure your dvd player supports dvdr's ?

why don't you just use shrink to do the job for you and use nero to burn?

Its the type of discs you use(known as media) example, Verbatim or Sony or Taiyo Yuden etc.

    try verbatim or taiyos

you may need to booktype your dvd+r's or give dvd-r's a go

keep your burn speed down to 4X

louise when nero said that the media it is not compatible what were you trying to do? maby the file was not compatiable with the media like if you were going to make an audio disk and trying to put it on a dvd or you were trying to put a dvd on a cd it might not be in the right format that might be why you are geting that mssg, aslo (fizzle) what program did you use to make your avi files to vob"s ?some programs don't do a good enough job for nero you might try vso dvixtodvd real good program and does a great job of converting the avi files to dvd format (also about the media thing) there is a rule of thumb about cheep media not being that good for dvd burning, as far as locking up and pixaliating cheep media will give theese problems, my self i have a hp 300i 4x+r burnner and it will burn all of the media that i put in it no mader if it is cheep or if it is high priced,i use shrink and nero with dvd region + css free to do all of my backup's
