I have a DVD that I created using Nero from an avi file. It has a CRC error in it that won't play any of the movie on a standalone DVD player. It WILL however play the DVD on my PC and will stop at the frame where the CRC occurs (two thirds through VTS_03.VOB). If I stop my PC DVD Player and keep the disk in and restart it then it gives me the option to play from where it last stopped. If I do this it plays the remaining section of VTS_03.VOB and continues playing VTS_04.VOB and VTS_05.VOB to the end of the movie.

I can't get the avi file anymore so I can't reburn from the original. Is there any way I can re-record the DVD (perhaps capturing the video on my PC whilst it is playing?) or is there software that can split the VOB file either side of the CRC error bit?

I can't copy the faulty VOB file on to my PC as it has the CRC error in it. I have cleaned the disk and can't see any physical problem with it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ian

the file is probley bad so you said that you can't get the file anymore did you deleate it ? if so if you are using windows xp just do a system restore and your file should come back.

Thanks, I'll try that but I'm not not sure I'll be able to recover the file as I think I've turned System Restore off. If I can then it'll sort the problem for sure. The movie is "Scusate Il Ritardo" an Italian comedy - so it isn't that easy to get.
