I would appreciate help getting playback to work. I am using MyDVD 6.2 with TiVo files.

Mydvd transcodes and writes the dvd without an error, but when I go to play the disk it fails - typically toward the end of the disk. (Most of the disk plays fine.) (On my DVD player it pops and blurs and hangs in the same place when I play it on my PC using both Windows Media Player and Power DVD.)

Next I tried creating an image with mydvd. The image played fine in DVD Shrink. I then wrote the image to a disk using both Nero and MyDVD. There were playback errors each time, but in different locations.

Next I tried different media: Maxwell dvd+r, and Memorex Dvd +rw. This also resulted in errors in different places on playback.

I also tried this on multiple Tivo shows. Again each time there was a playback error - in a different place towards the middle or end of the movie.

I tried disabling the network, virus software etc during the write. This also did not help.

In the past I have created DVDs on this computer successfully, using both Nero Express and an older version of MyDVD, so I am hesitant to look around for new firmware, drivers, or aspi stuff.

My DVD writer is NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A. The Driver is Microsoft's generic version 5.1.2535.0 dated 7/1/2001. The driver file details as Provider: Roxio File version 7.1.0.188.

    Any help would be appreciated!!!

Try using better media verbatim or taiyos
keep your burn speed down to 4X
dont try to put more than 4300mb on a disk
If using dvd+r's try booktyping or try dvd-r's
these simple rules will solve most play back issues

Hello i've had problems with playback all the way through my written dvdr in the past i spoke to somebody and was told to stop burning at 8X and to burn at 4X this worked for a while with no playback problems at all but just lately writing at 4X is starting to give me playback problems towards the end of the disc it will begin to skip then stop completely even using different dvd players makes no difference and now in my computer i am starting to get the same result playing back the disc i never had this before although the original video ts files play excellent in my pc.

I burn with ritek dvd-r using either nero or TMPGEnc to burn with i would like to burn slower than 4X maybe thats the problem but my sony dvd-rw drive wont accept me burning any slower or is it that or is it the ritek discs themselfs that limit me to burning slower? i dont know.

i know theres no problems with the made video-ts files on my pc its once they are on disc they seem to be ruined.

sometimes i get dvdr that playback fine but these are normally AVI files that are changed to VIDEO TS files through nero vision express

i havn't had one dvdr that plays back perfect using TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOR 1.6 the files im putting through there are either MPEG2 files or m2v files they all play back fine on my pc its when i burn them to disc i get the problem.

does anyone know of any solution as to why this is occuring please help i'll apprechiate it i just want to watch a nice film infront of my tv.

    Thanks

    Hi wild2,

Did any of the suggestions that philraz offered work for you? I am having very similar problems using MyDVD 6.2 and TiVo files. I'm using Memorex DVD+R discs. It seems about 1 out of 4 discs has an error on it which messes up playback.

By the way, I've started to check my discs using Emsa DiskCheck (available as freeware from link below) and it works really well. It checks my disc in about 6 minutes and so far it found errors on two discs which had skips or freezes during playback. It's a lot better than watching the whole disc to make sure it worked (especially if you're burning kids programs like I am).
