A dual layer or double layer disk is a DVD9 it is single sided and has two layers to it instead of just one. If you will look closely at the pic you have up you will see that this burner is not capable of writing to dual layer media, it is not checked. You can however, write to a two sided single layer disk. This drive only supports DVD5 single layer burning, unless there is some hacked fw that can change this.

No problem, it is easy to make the mistake they should put the checkboxes in front of the media and not off to the side..Have a good one and get some sleep
