I have downloaded the 7.0.8.2 update on Tuesday and got a lot of problems trying to install it--any help out there will be appreciated, as the nero-guys do reply to any help requested. The update extract and then runs about halfway and then stops with this message: "shell manager: unable to connect to shortcut manager" "Com+activation failed, error=57381" "Error name: co_e_initializationfailed" thank you
Sounds like something is interfering with Nero during the installation process. Below are what I usually do and suggest. > disable/shut off all Anti-Virus programs > disable/shut off any firewall (even if you're using Windows Firewall) > disconnect from the net > run Nero 7 clean tool, then run Nero General clean tool (not necessary needed, but it won't hurt to run it) > restart your computer (make sure any Anti-Virus and Firewall still OFF) > have windows search for any left over Nero related files, then delete it (use "regedit" to search and del Nero, but not necessary) > now install the latest version > once you get to the Demo trial and Demo key, put in your LEGIT Nero serial key, click next > everything should go smoothly from there on Good luck!!
Alkohol, Thanks, It did solve some problems, but now my 7.0.8.2 download gives me an error--"configurarion file corrupted"--when I trying to extract it. I have downloaded the file again and MD5-sum has been checked as correct, but still it give me the same fault. However, after I have done what you suggested, I installed 7.0.5.4 version(update)with no problems and its working fine--wierd hey....
I believe maybe you've got a "bad or corrupted" version of 7.0.8.2. My last suggestion would have to be: (1) delete your old zip file of Nero 7.0.8.2 (2) "to re-download" a new version of Nero 7.0.8.2 straight from Nero's website. (3) try a different downloading site via Nero, they usually have 2 or 3 downloading sites/addresses (which I believe). Now try to follow these steps once again; > disable/shut off all Anti-Virus programs > disable/shut off any firewall (even if you're using Windows Firewall) > disconnect from the net > run Nero 7 clean tool, then run Nero General clean tool (not necessary needed, but it won't hurt to run it) > restart your computer (make sure any Anti-Virus and Firewall still OFF) > have windows search for any left over Nero related files, then delete it (use "regedit" to search and del Nero, but not necessary) > now install the latest version > once you get to the Demo trial and Demo key, put in your LEGIT Nero serial key, click next > everything should go smoothly from there on > now try every applications from Nero to see if they all works If, however, doing the above steps failed, then have Nero 7 clean tool to wipe/clean out every Nero files again. Restart your computer and follow the above steps to install Nero 7.0.8.2 (again for 2nd time). > **NOTE: when you get to the Demo Version and Demo Serial, DON'T OVERWRITE it with your purchased LEGIT Nero serial this time. > let it install everything as usuall again > once it completed, Restart your computer, click on Nero StartSmart > go to Nero Product Center at "lower/bottom right hand corner" and click on it > now it will show a Demo serial number > now click Enter New and put in your LEGIT Nero Serial and hit OK/ENTER > now your Nero 7.0.8.2 is fully working with your purchased Nero key. Whenever I come acrossed any bugs or issues, I did the 2 above "installation process" and Nero has always worked for me. Good luck and enjoy it.
Well, I have now done what the tech said (ran the two clean programs, deleted all references to Nero or Ahead in the registry, etc.), installed 7082 and nerovision still crashes/restarts system. Anyone else having this problem?
This may be no help at all but you never know: 1) When you run install Nero extracts all the CAB files to C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Local Settings\Temp before starting the actual install. 2) If you then run install again without deleting the previously extracted files it will not overwrite them. 3) Therefore if your initial install contained corrupt files you will be installing with the same corrupt files again. PH
ububba, I did a crash dump analysis. Looks like Nero is causing problem with MCE Firewire STB drivers (msistb.sys). Do you have firewire recording enabled too?
Smodak, Yes, I have a firewire card I use to connect to my cable box. I have suspected that for some time. Interestingly, the one time I got an earlier version to run, nero would not recognize the existence of that box for the capture function. Hmmm.
pokusH, I am not sure you are right about the temp files. I did not delete them prior to installing 7082 but I now located them and I note that they all have a March 5th date so nero must have overwritten to older ones. ububba
Smodak, It just occurred to me that all the other three of my PCs that will run nerovision do not have firewire. I think you got it.
Just finished installing the latest Nero Update, Have run Nero Recode 2 and Nero Burning ROM as well as Nero Express, all seem to be in order this time. Will post if I have problems with my firewire port-- set up now to capture from a JVC camcorder.
YEs, I occasionally use that to make home DVD's of the offspring to mail to family members.I have not really made DVD's from captured video cards like a TV tuner card. Usually I just burn directly to DVD from the camcorder, when I need to edit something out I capture to the hard drive first then edit out using Nero vision then burn to DVD,,,
I may be wrong but I do not think firewire cards connected to CAMcorders are causing problems. I think the firewire connnected Cable Set Top Boxes (using meistb.sys driver) are causing problems. Look at this thread for a crash dump analysis on my pc http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/314987. I will hate to uninstall firewire drivers and thus going back to IR Blaster route to changing channels/recording etc.
