I have recorded programmes from the television onto a DVD+R disc on a Liteon dvd recorder at EP quality and finalised the disc. When I insert it into my Dell laptop in my dvd burner there is no image available on the dvd+r. I have used Nero 7 and Alcohol 120% to try to copy the disc to no avail. Dell media experience does not recognise the disc. When images are recorded onto DVD+RW they are recognised by dell media experience. The dvd+r in question does play on other dvd players that I have connected to other televisions. Could someone help please as to how I can copy it?
what is the media that you recorded on? you drive sounds like it needs a firmware update to recognize your disk! use Nero InfoTools to find out what firmware you drive has and search your drive here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php to find out if your drive has the lastest firmware to it! If not... download and install the firmware and then check out your disc! by using good quality media you might be able to avoid problems like this. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and others MADE IN JAPAN are top quality discs that will play on most players!
I have an NEC ND-6100A burner with the updated firmware 104D according to info tools and the info obtained from the link you gave me. I am using Phillips media and have never had a problem with these discs before. The above dvd burner is a recent replacement for a samsung combo (dvd player + cd burner) that was replaced under an extended warrenty. What do you suggest next please?
Your Philips media is not so good! the manufacturer ID for Philips range from second to third class media and I bet yours is 3 class CMC crap! here is a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm you can download a free program called DVDInfo Pro here: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ this will tell you the manufacturers ID of your media! the best way to stop a lot of problems is to use better media ........ try it and you'll see! Just my 2 cents. You can also read up on many things with this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
