    Hi,

After using DVD rebuilder my new DVD is 32MB too large for a single layer DVD.

    Anyone ever had this problem?

    Thanks, Mark

    Hi,

No it is 32MB larger than the maximum size that a single layer DVD will hold.

    Cheers

Oh, I see. What's your output/target settings (i.e. mb size)? Did you customized or is it at default? I usually leave everything at default, unless the movie needs a lot of compressions needed, then I'll change it to 4460MB.

However, if you have it set to "default", then I don't see any reasons why your output can created an additional 32MB over any 4.7GB DVD+R or DVD-R dics. Unless you've made some changes in the target sector settings.

i had the same problem, i used Alkohol's suggested (from another post), TargetSectors=2284095 and this is what causes the overage. the settings should be as follows according to the help file of DVD-RB......

i changed my settings to CCETargetSectors=2267500 and TargetSectors=2267500 and that cured the problem.

    Hi,

Well I have never changed the sectors to my knowledge, in fact I cannot even find where to change the sectors. Any suggestions where to look.

    Thanks.

4460MB shouldn't cause any issues at all, unless you went over the size and or put it an invalid sectors. Yes, I usually leave the target at "default", however, when the movie is big and needs a lot of compressions, I'll change it to 2284095 only.

Any DVD+R is capable of holding 4482MB or 2295103. Below is a burned log of mine taken from Nero Burning Rom.

Could someone let me know how to set the Target Sector? I believe it goes in the *.ini, but where? At the beginning, middle, after something, before something? Does it matter where?

The only reason I ask is because DVDRB seems to want to create a different size everytime. I've never touched this target sector thing, but the last one I did it created the image to 4689 I believe. Tried to burn it anyways and the disc ran out at 4658. I don't want to waste three hours encoding just to get something too big that I can't burn.

just to clarify before someone goes copy pasting that # in the ini file, this is the size for the video being processed to become you must leave over head for navpacks packs (such as title name, alot of disk store info like burner model's)and also there should alway's be room for error on the encoders behalf.
the "2284095" target should be fine the only time I would use a target size is when dealing w/ oversizing which is rare but I remove it afterwords!

    Hi,

Just to follow up. I uninstalled the older version I was using and updated to version 1.08. After that I ran the DVD again and all was fine, the file size was not too large and fit on a single layer DVD just fine.

If anyone else is in the same boat I suggest an upgrade if you have not tried that already.

    @L8ter

Yes, I agree with you 100% and that is true indeed. Any high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "Advanced Azo" or Hitachi Maxell (MIJ) should be OK with "2284095 sectors aka 4460MB".

I was just telling (or clarifying with) "KC36330" that any DVD+R is capable of holding 2295103 or 2295104 sectors that's all. I would never dare to go/or set to that value with any of my backups.

    Cheers!
