So my dog knocked our laptop off of a table and the screen is no more. I dont know how to install a new screen but how hard could it be? My step dad (the dogs are his) bought my mom (the computer is hers) a dell flat screen monitor because a "buddy" of his said it would be really expensive and that we might as well just get a new computer. Is it hard to install a new screen?
No laptops are designed to be easily modified. I've no idea where you would source a laptop screen, or how to install it other than to get dell to do it. For that money you're probably better off with another laptop.
you'll have to get a part # for old screen which might involve opening up the laptop to see the #'s on the screen. can call dell to see what the part # is & how much the screen will cost. could also check with a computer repair place to see what the total cost of new screen & installation is.
when i broke my screen a couple of years ago it cost a cool £400 (replacement would have cost around £700 mark) to get it replace... neva have got stressed out tho a game since tho lol. But i think it was worth it.
£400 is a lot to pay though, really, just to have a screen replaced. Nice to see another UK member around, wdowsing!
yea u too sammorris wheres ur "my page" anyway? and ur right it was a lot to pay buit taught me dear and nothing to do ith y my current laptop is being repaired.
my page as in blue hyperlink on my name? I didn't have the option to create one when I signed up to AD (I think) and havent yet bothered. I'm incredibly busy atm, so I might get around to it at some point, but no promises.
if you look at dell support and download the manual, they show you step by step on how to replace your LCD.
