So my dog knocked our laptop off of a table and the screen is no more. I dont know how to install a new screen but how hard could it be? My step dad (the dogs are his) bought my mom (the computer is hers) a dell flat screen monitor because a "buddy" of his said it would be really expensive and that we might as well just get a new computer. Is it hard to install a new screen?

No laptops are designed to be easily modified. I've no idea where you would source a laptop screen, or how to install it other than to get dell to do it. For that money you're probably better off with another laptop.

you'll have to get a part # for old screen which might involve opening up the laptop to see the #'s on the screen. can call dell to see what the part # is & how much the screen will cost. could also check with a computer repair place to see what the total cost of new screen & installation is.

£400 is a lot to pay though, really, just to have a screen replaced. Nice to see another UK member around, wdowsing!

my page as in blue hyperlink on my name? I didn't have the option to create one when I signed up to AD (I think) and havent yet bothered. I'm incredibly busy atm, so I might get around to it at some point, but no promises. :D

if you look at dell support and download the manual, they show you step by step on how to replace your LCD.
