im not sure but if the ps3 has dvd playback (something that we should expect from ps3) then the ps3 should be capable of playing ps1 and ps2 games without mods.

DISTURBING THE PEACE SINCE - uhh.. i made an account?

common sense would give the indication that authentication is going to take place on all disks its able to boot, it is not going to boot any backup disk without a mod.

Uh! common sense right there! If you sony allow playback burn games, how will Sony make money? Thats like asking,"Does PS3 allow to play back PS3 games".

Um... you still need to mod ps3 to play back the games not dvd play back. What you mean PS3 will have allow to play burn ps2 games?

Whats the point of buying the ps2 games in the first place?

common sense? i thought as $ony are focusing on the blueray discs & they can not be backed up maybe they will not incorperate copy protection as common sense tells me no one can back up a ps3 game.
i was just wondering as all the focus is on blureay.
anyway $ony & common sense in the same sentence just doesnt sound right LOL

Blu-ray burners and disks are currently available on the open market so it's not a problem to back up Blu-ray disks. the burners arent cheap, Pioneer's DVR-1000 is 2500 bucks but the disks are comparitive to single layer DVD-R disks.
