I have a philips PET710 portable DVD player and when I try to play a burned DVD-R it won't load, but when I play the DVD's on stand alone home players, it plays perfectly. I'm using Imation dvd-R discs. I was thinking about switching to Verbatim dvd-r discs but am weary of the same problem happening...any suggestons?
patlifer, I googled on that player and it looks like it only plays (+) DVD's http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/te...6967927?_encoding=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics
Thnak you I see that. But here's the strange thing, I have other DVD-R that I have successfully played on this player so why would it start not playing these discs? Strange huh? The burning programs I am using are anydvd and clone dvd. Is there anything with these programs I can utilize to help fix this?
patlifer, Sometimes the player will play DVD's it is not supposed to as it is an anomaly and no program will overwrite the burner itself. Just use (+) DVD's from now on and try better blank media as Imation is usually pretty bad
could I use +R media and then under the options select dvd-rom? The reason why I ask is that one of my stand alone players does not take +R media. Thanks again for all your help.
patlifer, If your burner can booktype the DVD then yes. If it can not then you have a quandary: Do I need to replace that DVD Player as the are cheap now?
Sorry to be such a bother but I'm really new at this and thank you for your help. I have a lite-on dual layer 16x DV +-r/+-rw. By booktyping you mean to put in a +r disc and then select the dvd-rom option in clone dvd?
patlifer, I am going to say yes but I have never used CloneDVD. Lite-on has a booktype Utility that will also change the booktype
Car.Mike, Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it. I'm at work right now but will download this utility when I get home and let you know how it works out just in case anybody else has similar problems.
Car.Mike, Just to let you the lite-on utility program works like a charm. Thanks so much for your help and putting up with all my questions.
