I'm going to get a dvd burner, but I don't know if I should go with the +RW or -RW format. A friend gave me a couple copied movies on +RW, but the Xbox wouldn't recognize them. I don't know if it's because I have a Thompson drive in the Xbox, or because of the way my friend burned the movies. They play on a set-top dvd player.

Does anyone know if Xboxes with a Thompson drive will recognize -R and -RW media? I'm thinking of buying a Toshiba SD-R5002 dvd burner and I'd like some advice/confirmation before I buy.

Thanks.

Are you playing copied movies on -R? If so, what programs are you using to copy?

Also, does your Xbox have a mod chip? Will I be able to play copied movies without a mod chip in mine?

Thanks.

no, i'm not playing copied movies, only copied games

yeah my box has a chip.

i dunno if it will play copied movies without chip. but i played copied music on a cd-rw wit my xbox when i didn't have a chip. So i would say it depends on the drive reading it. and if you don't have a chip, you gotta have the dvd kit
