Hi, I'm new here so please go gentle on me. I've recently been having trouble backing up DVD's which are orange in colour. So far I've tried to backup 3 separate movies (including Kung fu hustle), but keep getting read errors on my drive when attempting to rip the video files. I'm using Slysoft's CloneDVD with a Pioneer 106 DVD burner (not dual layer), and its starts off ok, but then at around 5% progress I get read error messages. DVDXCopy also brings back the same problems. Does anyone know if its a problem with my burner or if these discs have some kind of new encryption that I don't know about? Any help would be appreciated.
I can't help but ask, how does it do with other colors? Now that's out of the way, what decryption software are you using? What is the exact error warning you get when the problem occurs? If not already doing so, use AnyDVD along with the CloneDVD 2. You can get a full function trial at http://www.slysoft.com . What does it say about the encryption when the info window opens? You have to set that in Settings as it isn't a default. That tells us the encryption in use.
Thanks for replying. I managed to sort the problem by using AnyDVD and I could rip the files no problem. I was previously using DVD Region-free to decrypt so now I know where the problem was. Just need to find a full version of AnyDVD now - my trial run expires in 21 days!
