I am going to try to post a screenshot of exactly the same screen that i am looking at...
wot dashboard do you have? have u tryed and go to settings and set the ip instead of just changing the ip form static to dhcp
i am running Evolution X, & thats just the thing the place where i would set the IP, dosent even let me edit.. well anyways here are some screenshots of my xbox... maybe these can help you diagnose the problem with my xbox... at least i hope....
If it helps anybody i am using a bellsouth dsl... and a d-link router... I used both of these to FTP my xbox before... (But that was when my xbox showed an IP address), SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!
hmmm that happens when your cable is not connected so im guesing that there could be something wrong with the cable. make sure the cable is an RJ45 or buy a new cable. hope that helps
shouldn't i be able to see an IP address even if i dont have my cable plugged in, or at least i used to be able to see an ip address on my xbox when it is not hooked up to anything...
Are you saying that with those settings you where able to ftp befor but, now for no reason you're not getting an ip? You've changed nothing since it was working? (if you did what did you change?) I assume youve already made sure its not a firewall issue. You are using a Router correct? What kind of ethernet cable are you using? Standard or crossover/patch? ------------------------ All that aside lets try something else. Try not using the router. (itlle help see where the problem is) With a Crossover/patch cable connect you're xbox directly to the back of your computer. Use these settings exactly. On you xbox set your IP to "192.168.1.100" and EVERYTHING ELSE to either 0.0.0.0 or blank. Set xbox to static. On your computer open you network conections and double click the connection. Highlight "internet protocal (tcp/ip)" and then click the properties button just under it. Click "use the following ip" As your ip enter "192.168.1.200" as subnet mask enter "255.255.255.0" Click ok. Reset everything. see if you xbox has an ip. --------------------------- If that dont work than atleast you know its not the router causing you problems. could be as simple as a broke cable. Good luck.
first of all i just want to thank everyone for taking time to help me out, thanks... i am going to try a coupe of things u guys stated in here, i will post the results and let you know if it work for me or not...
also just to make sure, i have two questions... 1) so for me to see an IP address i am supposed to have my XBOX plugged into the router or something, correct? & 2) Is the ethernet cable that comes with the xbox 360 a crossover cable, i think i read that somewhere on these forums... Just wanna make sure before i waste my time trying it....
alright, it took till the weekend for me to get a new t.v. so i can put my xbox 2gether with my pc, but thanks logic & everyone else that contributed to this thread, i really appreciate it... i got it working now.... also i found out that since my laptop has the wireless connection built in... i dont need to plug a ethernet cable into my pc, i only need one from the router to the xbox... COOL! oh yeah, but my xbox settings were set to (Setup Network - YES, & Static IP - YES) if this helps anyone.... Once agian thanks for all the help everyone....
if your using a router you do NOT need to set a static IP, only if your using a direct connection (cross cable between XBOX and PC) or a hub/switch to connect. kc
shhhhhhh. if its workin its workin. lol. But he is right cj2087, if you want you can change it from static to dynamic.
