I have a $300 Gift Card to use from SuperCertificates and want to use it on an electronics site to buy a LCD Monitor. The site I would be getting it off of its tigerdirect.com. They have a lot of deals on this site, but the biggest deals & rebates are on no name brand monitors (or atleast ones I have never heard of). I was hoping someone could point me to a good monitor between $200-300 that is over the 17inch size. I found one on tigerdirect that is 20.1" and is widescreen format for $349. Is the only benefit of widescreen monitors to watch movies?? Here are the specs of the monitor: Sceptre X20g-Naga III / 20.1" / 800:1 / 8ms / WSXGA / 1680x1050 / DVI / Wide LCD Monitor with Speakers Display Properties Display Type TFT LCD Viewable Screen Size 20.1 inches Pixel Pitch 0.25 mm Display Area 433.4 x 270.9mm Display Colors 16.7 million Scanning/Frequency Vertical Refresh Rate 50 ~ 75Hz Horizontal Frequency 24 ~ 82KHz Video Input Video Signal DVI VGA Audio Speakers Integrated Optical Characteristics Contrast Ratio 800:1 Brightness 800 cd/m² Response Time 8 ms Horizontal Viewing Angle 176 degrees Vertical Viewing Angle 176 degrees Resolution and Preset Modes Maximum Resolution 1680 x 1050 Physical Specifications Cabinet Color Black VESA Mounting Compliant VESA 100mm Unit Dimensions (WxHxD) 18.75" x 15.38" x 7.1" Unit Weight 25.1 lbs. Power Consumption 80W I apoligize for the extremely newb advice I am asking but I don't know much about LCD monitors because I have never been able to afford one until I received this Gift Card for free from an incentive site. Some of the "brands" I am seeing on tigerdirect for cheap prices are this Spectre, DCL & X2Gen each have a 19" LCD Monitors for $189.
You can buy a really really nice LCD flat panel 19" for ~ $279.00; make sure it has analog and digital (15 D - Sub analog) or DVI connectors so you have the flexibility to work with various video cards. I bought an LVIEW PRO 19" last year for $279 and have been very very pleased with it. Widescreen is good for DVD movie watching and using alot of spreadsheets and surfing with multiple browsers up. I set up a Dell 24" for a Buddy of mine and he loves it. But, that puppy was big bucks....around 600 bills. Good luck. Keep us posted.
The sceptre Naga III is a great monitor, look in the CRT vs LCD widescreen thread and ask theonejrs, he loves it. While it's big, the picture quality would seem to be fantastic.
