I am using slysoft AnyDVD 5.9.1.1 in conjunction with CloneDVD 2. I almost always have no problems actualy writing the disc itself but I having many difficulties actualy ripping it. I will start the process before I go to bed and just leave my comp on. Well, I get up in the morning and it's at like 6% with an error. I hit retry and it keeps on going like normal. I may get 1-2 more of these errors but as long as i hit retry it seems to work fine. Is there a way to set it to automatically retry with clonedvd 2? What else should I try? Thanks again for your help everyone.

Usually Clone will give you these errors if the disc is dirty/scratched or a bad press. If your receiving them on a regular basis here's 2 things to try - make sure the discs are clean - even a fingerprint can cause this. I would also try a dvd lens cleaner on your drive - your lens may be a bit dusty.
Also update your anydvd to 5.9.4.1 the latest version.

These are brand new DVD's though. No scrath not even a finger print. Are you sure a DVD lens cleaner would be the answer then? I got a new one last night and wouldn't even let me retry. It would just keep showing that error. Perhaps a different burning program?

Every so often I clean the lens in my drives - they can get dusty which can hinder the lens from reading correctly. May help. I use anydvd and clonedvd a lot and rarely have a problem. So you can try ripping them w/ dvdfab decrypter then open the files in clonedvd and proceed as usual. Try that and let us know how that turns out. It's free. I would turn off anydvd when ripping w/ fab decrypter. Here's a link:

There's no such thing as DVD ripping difficulties. I don't know about you, but if you don't have the latest from AnyDVD, then it is pretty much useless.

Why don't you just use DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE and it's one of the greatest ripper at the moment), then just "process" your VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker (only take 5 minutes to process and filter out craps) just to be on the safe side?

Or you can simply use DVD Decrypter + PSL plugins with PgcEdit + FixVTS (FREE and flawless). You'll never have to worry about updates if you don't want to.

Well used a cleaner on my dvd rom and it did not seem to help. used the dvdfab thing and it worked but it still kind of sucks because i have to burn it after it gets ripped. its not a seamless process like clonedvd2. here is a pic of the error i often recieve on clonedvd2.

Clean off the discs before you back them up. The error Clone gives you is saying hey I can't read/rip the disc. If you getting this on most of them - are most of them scratched or dirty? Even a fingerprint can stop the disc from being ripped. Clone's decent for ripping but imo dvd decrypter or dvdfab decrypter are much better at handling these read errors than clone.
