Play dvds from website

I have some dvds that i would like to upload to my isp and be able to play from a website.

Do I need to convert them to another format to upload them to my isp?

If there is a way to upload a dvd to my isp how do i do it?

Is there a free dvd player that a user could download?

Upload it to google video and they'll encode it into flash to be streamable online. You can then embed the movie for free on any page using their HTML code:

http://video.google.com

 

wouldn't the bandwidth fees go through the roof if you have such a big file?

 

I guess it depends on how many viewers you expect to have ...

Plus I don't think it uses the bandwidth of your web site, because your don't upload the video to your server; it plays from the google server, but I'm not 100% sure...

Double check the terms and conditions. I don't think they have restrictions on size though ...

I have uploaded stuff up to 200 mb. An mpeg file of an hour of footage shouldnt be too large...

Then you probably shouldn't put them anywhere online.

To have a video appear only for particular users is a much more complicated task. It would require some web programming.

You might want to try a web programming forum to get some ready made script... try dreamweaver app dev forums.
