i have bought a cdwriter/dvd rom drive combo and i have had it working for a week or two now but was messing around with my ide cables and now on boot it stays on checking ide devices, and get's no furter than that. if i take it out it all works fine but i want my drive in my pc. i have tryed reconecting it and playing with the master,slave,cs settings but no of that works please help.
Hi there, Check the IDE cables for the primary and secondary controllers, incl. where they attach to your motherboard. Hopefully something quick/easy to fix :^) Regards
no its not that i have check every thing like that before i post so i dont waste peoples time that way. but thanks anyway.
If it worked then why mess with it? Are you sure all the pins are aligned? Maybe its a bad cable, try another one to see if it works.
