alright i need to get specs for 3 computers -600-700$ -800-1000$ -1500-2500 if someone could help me all i have to do is get the best parts for each computer for the best value within their specified budget. If someone would help me and list what i should put in each computer it would be appreciated. each computer needs to have everything needed for self manufacturing thanks.
I would reccomend a P4, Do not get a celeron, they are slower than sin even though they say they run at 3 Ghz, for the cheaper computer you can get a Great PC from walmart for just under $500. I bought one 2 years back and made a few upgrades, it is the best PC I have ever owned. And unless you need Windows XP Pro I would go with Win 2000 or Windows XP Home, Its Cheaper. Unless you want to use Linux which is Free, Its just different and takes a little time getting used to, but Linux is by far the Best OS out there Phil
You would get better results in the hardware..but i can help if you tell me what are you using them for...Like games or video editing or just general use
my great aunt made a donation to my school. well not really a donation. she is buying me and my two sisters each a computer. however we are using this as a learning tool for the whole class. the school is going to buy the computers and my aunt is just going to make a donation for whatever the cost is and then some. The assignment it to make one like office pc which will run windows xp pro and will basically be not really a low end pc but more of just a conventional use pc. The price range for that one is about 500-800$ aprox. The second computer is going to be of mid range capabilities the price is 800-1200 and basically just an upgraded version of the first one. The third is supposed to be a high end gaming machine however the budget has to land somewhere just below or just over 2000. if anyone wants to throw out what they think i should do or could be of any help just let me kno. and for this being in the wrong forum, srry bout that i wasn't even thinking since ive never really had nething else than xbox ?'s. i would've made a new one if i woulnd't have had replies already. thx for your help.
tocool4u, why didn't you do an offensive post yesterday being you knew it was in the wrong forum??!! pingy34, read the forum rules above about posting as this thread was NOT in the right forum til i moved it!! moved
Okay, you need to go into a little more detail. Are you trying to custom build these computers?? Because you can get alot more performance/memory/disk space if you purchase parts and assemble them yourself. You'll get alot more help in this forum anyways btw. Take a look at my sig.. the "In my cart" section. ALL that is a pretty decent, almost considered kinda badass comp. Costing me $740 without a moniter, so I guess that just answered your 800-1000 question. Just add any 17" LCD moniter, that isn't 2 overpriced and you'll be in range. If you aren't to "build them" or aren't wanting detailed specs like MOBO's and Video Cards, then just go to Gateway, Dell, or even frickin Alienware, they have many overpriced premade comps and you can get alot of info on them. Oh, and EXPECIALLY for the HIGH end, go with an AMD processor. (My) X2 runs at 2.2 ghz, but can outclock any P4 on the market. (yes even the prescotts at 3.7 ghz.)
i was thinking amd but i dint really know anyone who had one and like it better than a p4. but yeah it is going to be a custom build.
Well you can always run around differnet websites that have all parts to a computer, and build your own.. I selected most of mine on www.zipzoomfly.com not my video card, because right now I'm looking at the Sapphire X800GTO2 which zipzoomfly does not carry sapphire. I've become a big fan of that website though and their deals, another website you should check out is www.newegg.com and www.tigerdirect.com When you go through selecting components you want for your system, just keep in mind the basic things you need for a computer to run, and then you expand from there. CASE Power Supply Harddrive Disc (HDD) Motherboard (Mobo) Processor (CPU) Moniter Keyboard Mouse *And operating system, but this is a PC hardware discussion, so I guess we are just talking about Hardware. Some mother boards have an onboard video card, which on your base system, office use, would be a great money saver. But these onboard video cards are very inexpensive and cannot be used for ANY newer games at all. On the mid-range system, expecially if you are looking at AMD, make sure you get a socket 939 MOBO, the 754's are a little cheaper, but they are also only making semprons for the 754 from here on out, so if you ever want to upgrade, you would have to end up swapping out the MOBO as well. Also in the mid range system make sure you get a board that supports PCI-E 16x, it's the new video card format, and pretty soon no more AGP cards will be made, plus most video cards that have both types, the AGP and PCI-E, the PCI will perform better and be cheaper. Really for every computer you will need the core 8 things, but you also have to keep in mind, printers, scanners, speakers (inless you are satisfied with the dinky ones that might come in your moniter) USB cards, Firewire Cards, Network cards, and many other little knick nacks that have great uses. If you ask 200 people to design a computer you will get roughly 200 different computers with different combinations of processors, motherboards, there are so many different brands of MOBO's that all basically do the same thing, but many people will swear by a certain brand because they have had good experiance with them. The world of building your own computer is a vast one with so many different choices and scenarios and budgets. If you have some questions like one MOBO or another, or why you would need some feature on a MOBO, or why is this HDD better than this one, than feel free to ask, we are all here to help and be helped.
