I know it is dual layer, but does that mean it fits 9 gb on a disc? Does it fit 4.7 on one side then 4.7 on the other side? If i bought the DL discs could i fit a dvd-9 onto a DL without compressing the files? thanks
Hope this link helps. http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.html?i=2010 DVD DL implies the definition; two layers of standard DVDR-5 are pressed together with a transparent spacer and a thin reflector between the two. The bottom layer (L0) is read and written to in exactly the same manner as DVDR-5. Reading and writing to the second layer (L1) is surprisingly simple; the laser simply focuses a fraction of a millimeter farther beyond the first recording layer - in focus with the L1. Since the laser is powerful enough, and L0 is transparent enough, L1 can be easily read.
