Hey all, I'm trying to find a slot-loading dvdrom that will NOT automatically suck the disc back in after it's been ejected then rebooted.
I know that the drives in the Apple laptops have this functionality, but I don't know who the manufacturer on those is, and would like to use these in an external enclosure.
    Any advice?

Man, a needle in a haystack is what you're asking for.
Go look around. I don't know of any myself, I've never seen a slot-loading drive like that for a PC, only apple.
May I inquire why you need such a random, specific functionality?

I'm trying to set up an imaging process that requires limited user intervention. Basically I want someone to insert the disc and reboot the machine, then run the imaging process, eject the disc, and reboot without pulling the disc back in.

I know it's a tall order. But it's got to be possible.

I'm sure it is possible, but you might have to do some high and low searching for a product of that nature. Your best bet might be to call a large solutions company like CDW and ask to speak with a hardware rep. They might know a product offhand to fit your needs.

The slot loading drive that I had in my POS Mac was a Panasonic .. I know that Pioneer also makes 'em .. but you'd have to put the drive in an external enclosure yourself ...
