is there really a big difference between a AMD athlon 4 vs AMD Athlon X2 series?

    im looking to get a new processor and i heard my fair share of differnces but i wanted to get a better idea for it. so for example is there a really noticable difference between say an AMD athlon 64 3800+ vs AMD athlon 64 X2 3800+? Thanks guys.

    Yeah, major difference. The X2 is dual core, 2 processors running at 2.2Ghz. They will run most apps somewhere around 2.6, but later when more apps come out that can make full use of the dual processor, it could run upwards of 4GHZ!
