my problem is just that there absolutely NO video input at all to my monitor i had to pull my grapics adapter out to use my computer and now i am running at about 6 fps ON JUST MY DESKTOP i cant troubleshoot my graphics adapter because when it is in the slot i have no video i need help oh and i have narrowed the problem down to the mobo, grapics adapter or a virus the only thing i have an extra graphics adapter and that one wont work either and i KNOW that that one works the graphics adapter is a (the new one is not the extra one)ati radeon 9700pro agp version also i know that i am infected with the win32/alemod virus im not sure if it has anything to do with the problem though
Slow down! FIrstly, the virus is just a bit of software that's monitoring you. It's bad and should be removed ASAP but has nothing to do with this problem as far as I can see. When you run your Integrated graphics (no card in the slot) what exactly happens? It sounds like there may be a hardware problem somewhere, but I can't see any link between underperforming integrated graphics and an AGP problem.
Ah right, we now start seeing things a bit more clearly. So the integrated graphics work fine (they will be slow as dung in games, but should run the standard windows interface without much problem) So this doesn't work either? What you should try, is installing the Graphics card you've got and connecting your monitor to the OLD graphics port. What may have happened is that your new cards are disabled and you need to get into windows and enable them rather than the integrated graphics.
like i said when i plug the graphics card in i have no video on ALL monitor ports so i cant really do that
Not even the integrated? what other ports does the graphics card you've plugged in have? It may have moved to say a DVI output. Also, do you get any picture before windows loads or just nothing at all? Oh and try a few other PCI slots.
for one the the graphics card is not pci its agp the older one(the one i call extra is pci)and i only have one agp slot and no the extra dosent get any video at all.both dont get any video before and after windows loads and both graphics cards have the same video ports video out,dvi out,vga out
It's always best to solve one problem at a time. The only problem you KNOW about is the Spyware virus right? Clean it. If you need help finding a program that will clean it, you can try adaware, there's a freeware version here http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 I no longer use adaware because there was multiple things it could not remove. I use XoftSpy, it's a great program, and if Adaware or anything else you might have access to can't remove it then try XoftSpy. It's not a free program, but if you need help with it PM me. Here's the link. http://www.paretologic.com/products/xoftspyse/ After the virus, and anything else that could be causing conflicts is gone, then we can address device manager and drivers.
Although removing the virus is important, I doubt anything related to drivers or spyware would cause no signal even in the BIOS, but I'm surprised the system boots at all without a signal, or doesn't it?
Well I'm not sure there's anything wrong with the GPU or related controller if the system boots (responds to keyboard presses in the right manner, albeit you not being able to see them).
actually i have just noticed while the card is in the slot the system(i think)sometimes freezes during startup,i kinda know the sound my pc makes if it starts up correctly and it just makes NO sound exept the fans and a few hard drive sounds and then just stopps nothing else also if that happens it dosent respond to the power button being pressed or anything else for that matter.
Hmm, possible motherboard problem then. Check your board over, looking at all the capacitors (coloured cylinders with silver tops). They should have flat tops, and be free from dirt. Good: Bad:
