    Hi,

I have a modded Xbox that doesn’t turn on anymore from the power button on the console, the only thing that makes the Xbox turn on is the eject button which loads the original Microsoft Dash, even when it loads the MS DASH there is no way to turn it off because the turn off button doesn’t work, it’s like there is no electrical contact from the power button. I asked the people who modded the Xbox for me and they told me that there’s a specific problem with the motherboard (which is apparently very common) and that it would need to be entirely replaced in order for the power button to work again. They suggested that instead of buying a new motherboard I plug the Xbox in to a power bar and use that instead to turn the Xbox on and off. This method does work, but I was wondering how safe it was for the Xbox to be turned on and off with a power bar rather than the original power button?

    Thanks for your advice.

i dont think them people are right with the answer they gave you if they put a chip in the xbox they must have messed up something while doing it....i will look into it for you...as for turning the xbox on and off is up to you i would just plug it in turn it on with the eject and off by turning off the power bar..

which chip do you have? it's possible that the reset/eject bypass wiring is faulty.

the Xecuter2 didn't incorporate the power/eject button into boot configuration, it's something in your power/eject PCB assembly more likely then the MOBO.

lately, when I plug the cord into the outlet, the xbox turns on for about 5 seconds and then shuts itself off, I then have to unplug it, wait about 1 minute and then plug it back in and it powers on fine, what is causing this in your opinion?

my opinion would be the PCB eject/power assembly. if you have a buddy sub one or the other and try it out. (I'd recommend putting your switch assembly in theirs)

The powering on and off sounds like you got a bad flash Of your BIOS
the x2 should have a backup bank to boot a secondary BIOS try changing
the switches. also you should go to xbox-scene.com they have a lot of tutorials that might help you but i think the modder who did you box
    1. screwed up
    2. is full of crap and just wants you to have to buy a new mobo
