this is my first post so i hope i dont say anything wrong... i am trying to make a backup from my backup but i keep getting errors of cann not read disk? i used anydvd and dvd region in the background with clonedvd2 to burn any help would be of great help thanks in advance
Does your original backup play. Sounds like it was burned too fast or on bad media. Slow down on your burns and get media like ty or verb and your backups will be easier to backup.
yes the original backup plays perfect i used memorex dvd-r 8x im not sure if i can change burn speed in clonedvd2?
Burning on Memorex media might be the problem. How are you trying to copy the copy? I suggest to use DVD Decypter ISO read mode, rip the disc to your HDD, then DVD Decrypter ISO werite mode to burn the resulting ISO. I would set DVD Decrypter to ignore read errors. I have never used CloneDVD, but it probably has an option to change the burn speed. make sure you have a blank DVD in your burner when setting the burn speed. If you use AnyDVD, you don't need DVD Region. Turn it off, acctually I would uninstall it. The two of them will conflict.
thanks for the info on having both anydvd and dvd region running at the same time i will also download those programs you mentioned and see what happens
Yeah I think the Memorex media might be the culprit here. About 50% of my backups off Memorex gives me errors and playback isues. Go with some quality media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Fuji and Sony but make sure they are made from Japan.
RitekG05 is top notch media...Memorex media has to be the closet thing to media copy protection...they're discs are so bad it's like having a sony arcos protection on them when trying to make a copy.
Copy a copy? About the most asked question on AD and I'm constantly surprised by the answers. Media aside, lets look at the process. A backup is already sized to the recordable media. So, the files don't need to be transcoded. So the likes of CloneDVD 2 are not needed. Since the copyright protection had to be bypassed on the original backup, there is no copyright protection on the backup DVD. That means no AnyDVD or other decryption software is needed. Which brings me to what a person needs to burn a copy of a DVD backup; any recording software, including that in Windows. As a matter of ease, I use the Copy DVD function in Nero. Most recording suites have a copy app. Once you try using the right software, if you still have problems, let us know. We can talk media then. I will go ahead and mention that the CMC Magnetics manufactured media sold by Memorex has developed something of an odious reputation. A lot of people avoid it. Other brands sell CMC as well, but people tend to forget that. I actually wonder how many people are just adding to the "legend" without ever having used the Memorex/CMC media. I'm not rushing out to buy any to try to evaluate it though. I had my poor experience with the CMC media once in the past and there's too many other choices to revisit that one.

Hi 2000neon Check your copy for damage ,then use DVD Shrink & see if it will Analise it..If you get a Data error [cyclic reduncy check] disc will not copy.[If you can Analise follow cyprusrom's instructions] And yes you can change speed on your clone DVD 2 , just follow the steps when you use clone.
oziwombat I'm curious why you suggest analyzing a backup with a decryption tool. The only conceivable reason I could see doing so would be if a person wanted to use DVDD to create an ISO image to burn using the Decrypter burning software. As far as encryption and copyright protection, there should be none on a backup. Why suggest CloneDVD2, since the files don't need transcoding? The backup should already fit the target media, unless it's a DL backup and they want to put it on a DVD5. I heard no mention of that. As I mentioned before all a person needs to do with a backup is copy it. All the work has already been done. If it won't copy, then do a read scan to make sure the PC can properly read the source disc for burning. I learned a long time ago that some discs will play, but not capable of being recorded. If a person doesn't have the scan software, there's the free DVDInfoPro.
The reason why I suggested DVD Decrypter was because I think is better than Nero when trying to rip a problematic disc. As for AnyDVD:~), well of course you don't need it to copy a copy! I think 2000neon mentioned Anydvd , DVD region and and CloneDVD2 as being the software used to burn,to make the copy(he never got around to making the copy of a copy), and I just clarifyed that he would not need Dvd Region(Free)- that's what I assume that is- for his decrypting job, as AnyDvd is more than qualified to handle almost any encyption.
Just use your original like you did the first time around, use good media, this time and you shouldn't have no problems. Always, always use Verbs or TYs. Ritek is OK.
i will have to asume it is the disk brand or the speed as i can not copy the copy with nero alone like i had mentioned i am kind of new to this and was just wondering how to do the copy of a copy thing thanks for all the advice everyone has shared i have only done a few backups with the memorex and have had no issues with playback
I had a similar problem once. The "dog" ate the original and the backup was starting to get scratched. I tried doing a backup of the backup. I used the Copy DVD from Nero and it wouldn't copy. I ran a scan test and was surprised to find read errors. It had nothing to do with the media, as it was top notch and I'd done backups from the rest of the spindle that came out flawlessly. My only recourse was to get another factory DVD if I wanted a second copy. It being a movie I liked and wanted to keep in my video library, I got another copy. Just for the heck of it, I made another copy of the DVD and tried to see if it would copy with Copy DVD. It did without an error. I'm still left wondering what happened to the first copy that caused the error. What's strange is that the errors weren't random, but happened in an orderly sequence, which further heightens the mystery. By the way, how did that read scan turn out? If you have the full version of Nero, the option is available in the CD-DVD Speed utility. If not, then there's the free DVDInfoPro I suggested at http://www.DVDInfoPro.com/ .
