Ok my first successful burn (maybe) of a DVD+R DL...

I copied a DVD (Pirates of the Caribbean, disc 1) using DVD Decrypter. Make an ISO image with all files (in the settings, changed the read mode to include all files).

Then I put in a DVD+R DL (Verbatim) and changed the booktype bitsetting to DVD-ROM. Burned the disc at 2.4x. Everything burned just fine, no errors.

However, I tried in 2 different standalone players (Pioneer and a Philips DV-642) and neither would read the disc. It would start up, take about 30 seconds and then stop spinning.

Just tried in my DVD-ROM drive on my computer and it did the same. :(

Anyone know (or have a good guess) as to what I did wrong?

    thanks!

What's the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive?

Is that a separate dvd-rom drive,or are you talking about the dvd-rom part of your burner?

If separate dvd-rom drive, try playing that DL backup in your dvd-rw drive.

I don't change anything in dvd decrypter. I use it's default settings, unless it is a damaged disc.

Here's how I do my DL backups using verbatim +r 2.4x:

    Iso Read/backup to harddrive
Iso Write/locate MDS files/open/ok and burn.

You need the MDS files, Not the ISO files. When you look for the mds files,it'll be below the ISO files. The MDS files folder will be bigger. Hold your cursor over them for a few seconds, and it'll tell you which one is the MDS files.

    Brand name and model# of the drive - [bold]LiteOn SOHW-812S (flashed to a 832S)[/bold]

Is that a separate dvd-rom drive,or are you talking about the dvd-rom part of your burner? - [bold]Seperate DVD-ROM only drive[/bold]

If separate dvd-rom drive, try playing that DL backup in your DVD-RW drive. [bold] Tried that too, keeps spinning it and never sees anything[/bold]

I ordered a NEC 3550A from NewEgg, should be here on Tuesday. Any other suggestions or questions about this?

I'll try that MDS file option. I never used that before DVD Decrypter always just found the file for me when I clicked on the ISO.

I have the 812@832 also but have never tried dl with it. But I have the 3550 also and you will be able to do the dl just the way you have been trying with it. Good luck

Cool, thanks for the confidence builder! :)

I just can't figure how I did these DVD+R DLs wrong. I can burn standard DVD-Rs with no issue whatsoever. Possibly an issue with the fact that I flashed my drive to another model? Supposedly has worked for others though.
