I am building a limo bus and would like to convert several good laptop lcd screens for use as video monitors.
I want to hook them up to a dvd player and game console.
Is this possible or am I an idiot.
I can get a ton of 10 to 17 inch laptop monitors but need to figure out how to wire them up to be used as video screens.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks
    Michael

Do the screens run from any specific video port, or is it just a multiplug?
If there is a socket (VGA, Composite video etc.) on there, you should be able to just attach that to them. The power probably just needs connecting to a 12/0V power supply. It should be apparent what that is when you remove them.
On a side note, have you considered just buying monitors designed for car usage? You'd be surprised how cheap they are now.

Are the monitors still attached to the laptops as a whole?

I dont think these have any rca outputs.
They have a mulit pin connector (ribbon type) and a 2 wire power connector.
Like I said I am an idiot about computers.
There has to be a way to convert these raw lcd's to accept a video input from an rca cable. I just dont know how to do it.
    Thanks

There will be, but it may be very complicated. Really, is it not just easier to buy the screens outright?

To late. I am commited now. I purchased 75 new video screes raw. They have the plastic housings around the front but no backings. I am now way over my head. My next step is to hit up the computer department at the local college and see if they can help.

I think the inference is they're going in several limos and that they were going cheap. Quite why he bought 75 of the screens without having researched it first though is beyond me.

I got a really good deal on them. I have been told that this kind of conversion can be done. I plan on using about 15 of them in the bus. If it works I will replace the tv's in the other limo's. I will still have a bunch left over but I will find something to use them for.
    Thanks guys
