I ripped this movie with AnyDVD/Shrink and found it was Ripguard protected. I completed the movie without problems. I only do "movie only" backups so you may want to try that.

I also tried ripping with DVD Decrypter which found and replaced bad sectors without problems.

    DVDFab Decrypter worked as well.

You may have a bad pressing or a scratch or blemish of some sort on the disc. I don't know if there could be different versions of Ripguard on the same movie. I wouldn't think yours would be any more or less potent than the Ripguard on my movie.

It is possible that a whole batch of the original had a bad pressing. If this batch was shipped to distributors in your area then maybe all of them are flawed. This is just speculation.

You may want to obtain a new version from a different location. Personally I didn't think it was all that good.

I did "Brother's Grimm" and it didn't even register that it could be causing problems. I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter to rip the source to the HD and then open the cleaned files in the backup software. With some of the newer releases, there are compliance errors that require processing with FixVTS. Cyclic redundancy means the PC is having a read problem. That's an error it can't read or an included protection that can stop the software from reading. Fasfrank mentioned a faulty press; do a read scan for bad sectors to see if that is the case. If the disc checks out okay, then use the method I suggested and you should be trouble free. You already have the AnyDVD, just add the DVD Decrypter and set it to "SPTI" checked, and uncheck "CSS cracking" and "Check for Structure Protection" (as recommended by Slysoft). If you get a good rip, the rest should be easy.
