Mac the Ripper problems

I recently found out that I couldn't successfully make copies with Mac the Ripper of the DVD's for "Capote," "Squid & the Whale," and "The Fog" (new remake). These titles were all Sony Classics or Columbia. The screen pops up to ask to Delete or Pad the VOB. Neither option works. When I attempted to watch the copies I burned, the movie would jump ahead about 20 minutes. Other sections were fine, but the main feature jumped ahead. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas for a solution? If not, Mac the Ripper may be obsolete for backing up major studio DVD's with a mac.
