I am having trouble copying Wedding Crashers. I have tried two different DVD's thinking that the first one was bad but no luck with the second one. First I try ripping it to the hard drive with ANY DVD and 99% thru I get this message.
Read Error! Ignor Read Error? Clicking no will abort clicking yes will continue and there will be no more warnings. It stops at vts_15_1. Ok I then hit yes it finishes then I try to copy with Nero Recode and at the end it says copying has failed. Required file vts-01-ovob is not present. I also have tried copy straight from the DVD to DVD it will give me an error message. Any ideas of what is going on. I just a couple of weeks ago updated Nero 6 and ANY DVD to the newest version.
As always I thank you in advance for any help you send my way.

Probably because VTS_15 is a bogus file and the IFO that was ripped keeps referring to it. The same problem is on Memoirs of a Geisha. When AnyDVD decrypts the movie it takes out this bogus file but the IFO file still states it should be there. I got this error with Nero and Geisha. I then ripped with DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD in the background, then opened Shrink substituted the unreferenced material with a still image ran the file through and then burned with Nero.

daletom, as a junior member you should know about searching! :)

Anyway, when this was released, there were plenty of threads concerning it.

Run it through VOBB and you should be fine. DVDFab may get the job done too but if I remember correctly, I think everyone agreed on VOBB.

You can also use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 with no problems. I used these 2 proggys and copied main title only. Hope this helps.

I thank each and everyone that answered this thread. Sorry about the searching part. I called myself doing a search before I posted but I guess it was not good enough. I did not realize I had graduated to a junior member. I should have been held back because I don't even know a fraction of what you people do.
Ok I did not even attempt the VOBB even after reading it was way over my head. I could not seem to locate DVD Decrypter. I tried Clone DVD2 but got same message about VTS_. So I tried DVDFab and it did the job. One wierd thing I have two DVD players one a no name and the other a Sony. I can't seem to get it to play in the Sony every time I insert it says disc dirty. I remember reading something on one of these programs about Sony but not sure what. Any ideas on this.
Again Thanks for all your help. You guys are amazing.

Even more amazing is that you have AnyDVD and aren't aware of the included ripper. It incorporates FixVTS for processing files that have compliance problems. It was specially added for the newer releases with the Arccoss and Ripguard protections that are causing the problems with decryption and compliance. FixVTS processes for compliance much as VobBlanker does. [bold]The AnyDVD ripper is the easy way to do the job,[/bold] it decrypts, rips and processes for compliance all in the rip to the HD. All the user does then is open the cleaned source from the hard drive with their recording software.

As for myself, I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter (with preferred Slysoft settings) and use FixVTS as necessary.

Hey Brobear. Long time no talk. Was wondering if you were sill around. Yes I was aware believe it or not about the new ripper on ANY DVD. I tried that first thing got the error message trying to rip it to harddrvie and error message with Nero and ANY DVD. So that is when I call myself searching and then posted. Like I said I could not get hold of DVD Decrypter So I used DVD Fab.
    Again thanks

Doom9, MrBass, DVDRDigest, and others still host DVD Decrypter or did the last I checked. I can't say how great the new AnyDVD ripper is, I just know how it works. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter (Slysoft preferred settings) and process with FixVTS as needed. I've yet to miss out on a backup. AnyDVD is doing the decryption and DVD Decrypter is merely ripping. The FixVTS is a great little tool for processing files for compliance. Some of the new releases are causing compliance errors (Sony and Disney with the Arccoss and Ripguard).
