I copied a movie "history of violence" and I removed all the menu stuff, All I copy is the move... In a friends player he stated that the subtitles would not go away... but I removed the menu? Whats up with that? Is it his player? I played it in mine and no subtiles.

Did you try turning them off manually?
I usually untick all subtitles when I backup movies so that they don't appear at all.

A graphical representation of your files usually lists all the subtitles. They are ofter represented as check boxes. If they are checked they will be copied. If you uncheck the box you will not copy that file.

@herrick, friend, upper case is against forum rules...Remember that CloneDvd 2 has a screen prior to burning that shows all the audio and subtitle info...that also shows what you prefer on the right side of the screen...make sure that you untick the subtitle box just to be on the safe side...I used 1 click very early on and the same goes for that as well, when you click options you will then see a screen that provides user options...one is subtitle..on or off. Hope this helps.

you mentioned that you used 1click in the past... i noticed that the compression ratio was lower in 1 click then clonedvd2, but i see no differance.. how can the same movie have differant ratio compressions

@herrick, that's a good question. I was backing up Ghost In The Shell Special Edition (the one with DTS) yesterday and ConeDvd 2 had compression at 85% and Recode 2 had no compression, even with both DD and DTS surround sound options included...wow! I's guessing it is based on how each program transcodes the compressed data. I would have to say that if your not seeing the subtitle and your friend does on his machine, then perhaps it is something he is doing or not doing. Have him go in to his setup on the standalone and find where subtitle is either turned on or off. That might do the trick. Sorry I couldn't be more heldful...and I believe the reason upper case is not used because it is a form of shouting on line. I could be wrong. Have a good evening.

thank you for your time and effert... which one do you like the most and why- 1clickdvdcopy or clonedvd2? also not sure if i should state this now or in thread... but having problems with coping movies from my copys... I use Taiyo yudens, [8x thermul and burn @ 4x] so I do not believe its the media, and sence some I can copy from I do not believe i have to change where to stop at the edge of the disk- firmware should be O.K. sence I can copy from some... In all honesty I dont remember if the problem is w/ 1click or clone???? any in put would be cool- I asked this before but do not remember where... and have not gotten an e-mail for awhile so thread is dead i guess?

@herrick, I stopped using 1 click because I found that CloneDvd 2 gave me more control and provided a better quality of picture when comparing backups. Combining CloneDvd 2 with AnyDvd...hard combo to beat. To answer the question about the backups, the media sounds good and the burn speed is fine...when I hard similar problems it was the program that I had originally used to make the first backup. 1 click and Dvd Cloner 2 were two that I had some problems trying to make backups, not all but some so I guess a long time ago I decided, based on the experience of the users at ad I made program changes..haven't had any issue as of late with any backup or making other backups, I even make backups from older backups that were done on cheap CMC media and didn't have any issue, but the origianl program was CloneDvd 2 or Recode 2. Hope this helps

What programs do you use now- what are you doing differant then before to improve back-up from back-ups? what stopped the issue?... I have found lately on three that would not copy from the original programs [both 1click and clone2] Nero 6 express did the job.

AD is a great place to learn and grow...especially when dealing with backing up your movie collection. I found through encouragement from others that CloneDvd 2 (slysoft), and Recode 2 are the programs I use a lot, but when I'm dealing with a larger compression then I run the movie through Dvd Rebuilder Pro/and the CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder) to handle those as I desire the highest quality, without always having to use DL's. I stick with the best media (Taiyo Yuden, and Verbatims)...I have stocked up on Taiyo Yuden from supermediastore and when I purchase the SOny's and FuJi's from Best Buy (make sure they are MIJ). I burn at 4x or 6x all backups, excpet for DL's which I burn at 2.4x...I prefer the +R media and then change the booktype to -R. I never have an issue with the backups when using the three programs I mentioned, great media, and slow burns (some at ad burn faster and never have issue as well). My dvd players are Denon 2200 (kind of picky, but not when I use the media, programs, and speeds that I mention!) and Sony players. I guess you could say I found better programs, better media, and a great forum to learn from and that's how. I hope this answers your questions. Have a good evening and weekend.

First of all thanks for all the needed info- very helpful... Why do you burn at 2.4x on DL disks? who makes a good affordable DL.

Verbs are fantastic. Best Buy will have them on sale every once in a while and everyone here will load up. Actually I can burn them at 4x, but I just burn them slower. Reason I guess I just do not want any errors, which hasn't happened. Others will burn them faster and they also have no problems. Dvd Decrypter does a great job of preparing the Iso image for the dl and then I use ImgBurn to handle the burn side. Does a great job. CloneDvd 2 does a great job as well for DL's, I just got into a habit with Decrypter. Have fun my friend and enjoy all the learning.

i always have the 'problem' of subtitles playing by default on standalone players. i personally always forget how to fix it at the DVD Shrink stage so i just flick the subs off when i start watching a movie. it's real easy to sort out in Shrink but i'm lazy and as it's not an actual fault with the discs i don't bother with the extra click or two that i need in order to fix this :p
