    Hello,
If anyone out there can please help me, I will greatly appreciate it. This is my first post but I have made successfully backed up several of my DVDs using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

I have been trying to make a back-up copy of the Legend of Zorro DVD (I have already reviewed the threads posted on Afterdawn about Sony's new protection system and to use DVDFab Decrypter and VOB Blanker and then DVD Shrink). I have used the DVDFab Decrypter as suggested in the "how-to" guides without problems. I think I have lso used the VOB Blanker as suggested without problems (no errors and no warnings). I end up having a copy of the "cleaned up" files in my hard drive (Drive C).

My problem begins when I try to use DVD Shrink to compress and encode the data so I can burn it on a DVD-r. I open the DVD Shrink program and press the "Open Files" button and then click onto the folder on my C Drive where the VOB-processed movie is stored. However, instead of the files being opened by DVD Shrink, DVD Shrink gives me the following message:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to open file "C:\Zorro\Video_TS\Video_TS.IFO." The system cannot find the file specified.

I know that the video files are in this folder since I have gone into the C Drive and seen them there. If there is anyone out there who can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help.

    Welcome to aD!
Are you using the latest dvdfab decrypter - 2.9.7.3?
When you're opening the folder thru shrink are you picking the one where vobblanker placed the processed files? This is the one you need to use for shrink.

I think the new DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.3 should take care by himself of that movie.
There must be something that you did when you processed the files in VobBlanker. I only get that message when ripping "Movie only" with DVD Decrypter. Instead of using "Open Files" function, I have to use the "Re-Author" tab, and everything works with no problem.

Thank you for the responses I have received so far.

In answer to your questions, 1) I have checked and I am using the latest DVDFab Decrypter Version 2.9.7.3 and 2) when I open the folder thru DVD Shrink I am fairly sure that I selected the one where VOB Blanker placed the processed files (In fact, I tried several different possible file folders and none worked).

Because cyprusrom responded that it's not necessary to use VOB Blanker for Zorro, I will try to backup the DVD by just using DVD Fab Decrypter, but this may not work for other DVDs in the future.

If anyone else has any ideas or thoughts about this problem, please let me know. I went through the VOB Blanker process exactly as stated in the guides and I don't know what could have gone wrong with it.

Thanks again for the responses. I appreciate it.

I don't know what guide you used, but to make it simple and make sure you are doing every thing okay. If you don't want to remove any extra stuff and you just want to "clean" whatever protection junk is left after ripping, you just "Process" everything. All you have to do is hit two buttons. Make sure you have the latest VobBlanker also.I am going to quote johnl123 from a different thread:

Try ripping w/ dvdfab decrypter than running shrink and/or vobblanker also as cyprusrom suggested. Vobblanker is used when shrink can't process the ripped files or to delete things you don't want. When it can't handle the files one of the errors it will give is the one you received among others. Usually vobblanker takes care of that.
Let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for your responses. I've just tried burning a backup copy with just DVDFab Decrypter and DVD Shrink and it worked great. I didn't have to use VOB Blanker.

I will keep all of your advice in mind in the future. Thanks again for your assistance.

AFTER YOU USE VOB BLANKER, JUST BURN WITH NERO, NO PROBLEM.

For future reference, using FixVTS is more simple than VobBlanker for processing files for compliance. I leave all options unchecked and drag a VOB to the FixVTS window and select Full DVD. Then burn the Video_TS folder when done. VobBlanker is a good tool with more options, but FixVTS is more simple for this particular task. As was pointed out though, most of the movies can be done with updated software. The later version of AnyDVD even has a ripper with FixVTS.
