Hi guys. I was wondering why my cpu usage goes to 100% when I'm playing a video at 1080p. My pc is media center edition and have used numerous programs to run this video (WMP, My Theatre, etc...). I also tried it on my bros computer and his runs perfectly fine with not much cpu usage. His is only about 12%. My cpu is an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ with an Asus K8V-X mobo with 1 gig memory and a GeForce 6600gt 128MB. My bros computer is a AMD XP 2500+ overclocked to 2800 with an Asus mobo (don't know what version) 512MB ram and a GeForce 5600 128MB. He has standard windows xp pro. Please help me.
I can't give you any detailed or professional help, but 1080p is ALOT of data to process. I think that might be normal.
Not completely sure about this, but I think you have to play with the video settings, like VRM vs overlay. I've seen this sort of discussion over at avsforum.com. Do you have 2 DIMMs setup for dual channel usage? And at least 256MB per channel (512MB total).
It's a WMV-HD video with 2 DIMM 512mb each. Yes it is set up for dual channel usage for a grand total of 1GB.
